Checklist And A Quick Hair Styling Tutorial To Wave Your Hair

Atone Wellness | Low tox hair care | Low tox hair salon | Hair salon Scarborough

This is one of our low tox hair services we provide in salon. However, when it’s not always possible, here’s my top tips and hair styling tutorial to use curling irons or ghd’s. The more you practice the quicker and easier it will become. Also, we all have a “tricky side”. Just persist and it gets easier too.

Have fun styling and I hope some of my tips can help you!!

Happy Styling,

Alana 🙂

  1. Make sure your hair is clean, tangle free and COMPLETELY DRY.
  2. Clean sections make it easier and quicker to manage. Place one finger at each ear and draw a semi-circle with them till your fingers meet in the middle. Clip the hair above your fingers on top of head and work on the section you’ve created below.
  3. The wider the section, the softer the waves. The softer the waves the more forgiving it can look if any strands are accidentally left out.
  4. The twist action is all in the wrist. Really turn the wrist that is holding the iron for lots of movement.
  5. Always twist sections away from the face for a soft “beachy” look. So one side of your style will be twisting towards the back, then you’ll need to mirror the action for the other side of your head and have that side twisting back also for continuity.
  6. Don’t spray any holding products on your hair until you’ve finished curling or it can make your hair tacky and get stuck on the iron and also build up on your appliance too. By all means use finishing products after.
  7. Allow your sections to completely cool before combing out. This will help to hold the shape as you can “drag it out” if the hair is still warm when you begin styling.
  8. If in doubt book to have this service done in salon. We can wave you hair using low tox styling products, if you come in with it clean and dry.
